Dextrose Monohydrate, which has about three-quarters the sweetness of sucrose, is mainly used in the food industry, such as confectionery; Bread; Wine making, etc.
Dextrose Monohydrate can be reduced to gluconol (i.e., sorbitol) for the synthesis of vitamin C and oxidized to gluconic acid, which is further oxidized to arabinic acid for the synthesis of vitamin B2.
Dextrose Monohydrate has a very strong reducing ability in caustic soda solution, and is used as a reducing agent in dyeing and printing of VAT dyes.
