Caprolactam is mostly used in the production of polycaprolactam, which is about 90% used in the production of synthetic fibers, namely capulon, and 10% used as plastics for the manufacture of gears, bearings, pipes, medical devices and electrical and insulating materials.
Caprolactam is also used in coatings, plastics and, to a small extent, in the synthesis of lysine.
