N-decyl alcohol is used as a raw material in the manufacture of surfactants, plasticizers, synthetic fibers, defoamants, herbicides, lubricating oil additives and fragrances, and is also used as a solvent in ink. It is a permitted spice stipulated in GB 2760-96 and is mainly used to prepare flavors such as orange, lemon, coconut and assorted fruits.
